How to create advance firewall rules on the windows 7/8/10

The Windows operating system has a firewall program that increases the security of the computer. This firewall program allows us to add rules as we wish. Let’s see how to create advance firewall rules on the windows 7/8/10

There are two sections, Inbound Rules, and Outbound Rules.

  1. Inbound Rules:- Inbound Rules can manage the incoming traffic to the computer
  2. Outbound Rules:- Outbound Rules can manage the outgoing traffic of a computer

For example, let’s look at how to deny web traffic

  • Open the Control Panel
  • Click on “Network and internet

  • Right-click on Outbound rules and click New Rule (Here it is decided whether inbound rule or outbound rule depending on the direction of the rule you add)

  • Now a new window will open and select Port as the Rule Type

  • Select TCP as the Transport Layer Protocol
  • Enter “443” as the port number and click “Next” (If you are adding rules for another service here, enter the relevant port number and protocol)

  • Click “Next” without changing anything here
  • Now enter a name for the rule here and click “Finish
